Murcia & Kalundborg at EU Cities Workshop organised by EUBIA

On the 23rd of March, the 5 European projects (VALUEWASTE, SCALIBUR, HOOP, Waystup! & CITYLOOPS) of the ROOTS initiative have met the representatives from 9 European cities to discuss the challenges that local communities face regarding the collection and the valorization of biowaste streams.

The roundtable was organised by EUBIA –VALUEWASTE project partner– and has been instrumental to gather numerous inputs from different urban contexts in Europe which often encounter the same barriers. These inputs will help the ROOTS partners to release a new position paper destined to reach EU policymakers. The paper will point out the barriers identified and will also advance some recommendations and solutions to allow a wider uptake of the circular economy in Europe. The paper and its contents will be presented in October during a public event in Brussels, addressing an audience of EU officials and policymakers.
