The Kick-Off meeting of the new CEN Workshop on “Key factors for the successful implementation of urban biowaste selective collection schemes (KEY-BIOWASTE)” took place on the 5th of October with a successfull and active particiaption from the audience.

The KEY-BIOWASTE CEN Workshop has been proposed by Valuewaste project partner UNE –the Spanish representative in the international and European organisations ISO/IEC and CEN/CENELEC, respectively, as well as in the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) – together with Valuewasate project coordinator (CETENMA), seeking to contribute and boost standarisation in regards to biowaste selective collection schemes.

The KEY-BIOWASTE CEN Workshop is scheduled to last less than a year, developing from Autumn 2021 to Summer 2022. During this time, the Workshop will work to produce a pre-normative document (CWA) with guidance and recommendations for the implementation of biowaste selective collection schemes to city planners and municipal waste managers with interest in implementing the selective collection of urban biowaste to produce high quality biowaste (i.e., minimal presence of non-required materials) which can be then used in robust valorisation processes with attractive business cases.
